INITIAL RESPONSE

When an audible alarm or flashing strobe light is present, leave the building:

  • Remain calm
  • Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
  • Listen for instructions from overhead announcement
  • Move out of the immediate area
  • Leave the building through the closest exit
  • Do not use the elevator
  • There are 2 exits from the suite. The main exit where the POS desk is located and the back exit by the control room
    • The back exit requires an ID badge or a punch code in order to open on a daily basis
    • In the event of a fire the back door will be open and an ID/ code will not be required for exiting the building
  • Once outside the building move to your assigned meeting place: From the front door of the suite move down the main corridor stairwell out the front of the building; leaving out the back door of the suite down stairwell through cancer center exit door and move into the right section of the parking lot
  • Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff

 

SECONDARY RESPONSE

& FOLLOW UP

  • Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent
  • Report any missing person to Grayslake Fire Department
  • Wait for instructions from the Grayslake Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.
  • Call and update Lurie Hospital Security 312-227-4222
