INITIAL RESPONSE

When an audible alarm or flashing strobe light is present, leave the building:

  • Remain calm
  • Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
  • Listen for instructions from overhead announcement
  • Move out of the immediate area
  • Leave the building through the closest exit
  • Once outside the building move to your assigned meeting place: Leaving the main entrance turn right. Follow side walk and walk across parking lot to side walk in front of adjacent building to the east. Leaving out the employee exit turn left cross street to sidewalk. Proceed up hill on sidewalk. Stop at intersection of two sidewalks near tree.
  • Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff

 

SECONDARY RESPONSE

& FOLLOW UP

  • Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent
  • Report any missing person to Northbrook Fire Department
  • Wait for instructions from the Northbrook Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.
