INITIAL RESPONSE

When an audible alarm or flashing strobe light is present, leave the building:

  • Remain calm
  • Alert others in the area of need to relocate or evacuate
  • Listen for instructions from overhead announcement
  • Move out of the immediate area
  • Leave the building through the closest exit
  • Do not use the elevator
  • Once outside the building move to your assigned meeting place: Leaving out the front door of the suite down the stairwell to the front of Au Bon Pain; leaving out the back of the suite door down the stairwell to the alley to the right
  • Account for all patients, parents, visitors, and staff

 

SECONDARY RESPONSE

& FOLLOW UP

  • Suggested evacuation priority: ambulatory, assisted, then dependent.
  • Report any missing person to Chicago Fire Department.
  • Wait for instructions from the Chicago Fire Department and/or Hospital Designee before re-entry.
